Experience tomorrow

In addition to the stand at Salone del Mobile, LAUFEN participated in Milan Design Week’s Fuorisalone at LAUFEN space Milano.

Part of a global network of galleries, the Milan showroom hosted the installation When Time Becomes Material, curated by Konstantin Grcic, which investigated the future of bathroom design and presented the concept of the designer’s new collection, PAR.

Furthermore, LAUFEN unveiled the world premiere of its new material innovation, VITREON Steel, and the new chapter of collaboration with Kartell, thirteen years after the launch of the successful Kartell by LAUFEN collection, this time with renowned designer Ferruccio Laviani.

A number of flagship LAUFEN collections – VOLTA, ILBAGNOALESSI, THE NEW CLASSIC and SONAR – were also on display. LAUFEN space Milano, at Via Alessandro Manzoni 23, welcomed multiple visitors from 20-26 April 2026.

WHEN TIME BECOMES MATERIAL

At LAUFEN space Milano, LAUFEN presented a preview of PAR, a new bathroom collection by designer Konstantin Grcic. Titled When Time Becomes Material, the installation was conceived as an experiential space shaped by a simple idea: to understand time not as something abstract, but as something we can sense – something that takes form through the objects and routines of everyday life.

Set within a cylindrical wooden structure, the installation unfolded as a calm and contained environment. Here, visitors were invited to reflect on philosophical questions like Can design make time visible? and Will happiness find me?

PAR was introduced as a new bathroom concept and cultural proposition. Marking the second LAUFEN collaboration with Grcic, the collection is designed for people in later life, experienced users who value simplicity and comfort. In this context, the bathroom becomes a quiet companion: adapting over time, with solutions already in place when they are needed. Not intrusive, but present. Not demanding attention, but gently supportive.

The collection brings together ceramics, accessories, furniture and FIL, a new line of faucets. Each element follows a clear and consistent language: simple forms, precise lines, and a sense of restraint. The name PAR – meaning equal, balanced – expresses this approach, conveying empathy, respect and a quiet sense of dignity.

PAR is made of Saphirkeramik and is fired in the world’s first electric tunnel kiln for sanitary ceramics at the LAUFEN factory in Gmunden.

A new chapter for Kartell by LAUFEN

Thirteen years after the launch of Kartell • LAUFEN, the two companies introduced a new evolution of the project under the creative direction of Ferruccio Laviani. At the centre of this development is VITREON steel, which expands the expressive language of the collection.

Laviani presented the two directions of the project: the design of a new bathroom cabinet, beauTwash, inspired by the shape of the letter T, and a revisiting of Anna Castelli Ferrieri’s Componibile as a column washbasin with integrated storage.

The world premiere of Vitreon Steel

At Salone del Mobile, LAUFEN introduced the world premiere of Vitreon Steel, a new material that extends the brand’s premium bathroom range with a significantly expanded portfolio of new washbasin models. Smooth as glass and strong as steel, Vitreon adds a new dimension to the LAUFEN material universe.

Defined by refined geometries, sophisticated finishes and subtle colour nuances, Vitreon offers a new tactile experience and a timeless aesthetic that integrates seamlessly with LAUFEN’s existing collections.

Following previews at major trade fairs in 2025, VOLTA was presented as a collection available for acquisition for the first time at Salone del Mobile 2026. Fired in the E-Kiln in Gmunden, the radically new washbasin concept showcases the poetry of water’s movement in nature and reduces consumption of this precious resource.
